Togat day 19......

....3am.....wide awake....stomach cramped.......yes....a f-ing relapse.....I am not back to normal(not that I am ever really normal)actually I THOUGHT I was no longer suffering from the bug......well definitely I have been suffering......I did not move for the next 9 hours.....I stayed horizontal......then surf-guide stopped in, with talk of a run to Icelands.....with possible 10' sets......10' sets???, I said to myself......it spiked my interest......so I rallied......I got up......got the camera gear ready......had a bowl of cereal.....put 4 fins in "cosmo the great", my trusty 7'2", and waited for the rest of the crew to join us for out 30-40 minute trip to Icelands......well.....as we sat in the channel, there were definitely some sets rolling through.....6'+, with the odd 8'er......surf-guide only had a 6'3", so I offered up "cosmo" to make it easier on him, and he accepted......there was a charter boat there and some aussie's having a crack......they were pulling into barrels, getting guillotined, making some......it looked good.......so I shot.......finished 1/2 of "no guru, no method, no teacher" a van morrison record, then 3/4's of "the massacre" a 50 cent record, and hooted surf guide, who came in and gave me cosmo, and I went out for a paddle......my head was pounding, the late afternoon glare was fierce, and I felt like I was going to puke a few times, but I hung in there and ended up getting 8 waves, a few bombs......pulled into a barrel on my first wave, but fell inside, on my way out......a few of the waves I did not make because I was too deep, so I got smashed by the ones behind, all the way through to the channel......smashed pretty good as well.....this place has power......the boat trip back to the island was brutal, cold, west winds had the spray coming over the sides, I was ruined, headache, ready to puke......I went straight to bed....no dinner.....then Yohna come around asking if I wanted some food, I declined, the offer of ginger tea I did accept......only a bowl of cereal for the day......not well yet.........todays photo is of Mr John from todays Iceland adventure.....his new Brewer 6'6" single fin was going good today........below................Johnny Yoga setting it up on the inside at Icelands.........below...............Mr John doing a bottom turn(the white water behind him is triple over-head)and you can tell the power from the height of the white-water explosion as the lip hits the wave face......and finally, as usual, 'ol surf-guide not paying attention to where he is going.......
